Guandu Jingang Pagoda

Guandu Jingang Pagoda is located in Guandu Township of Kunming City. The township is named after the ferries constructed in the Tang Dynasty. Besides the long history, Guandu Township has always been famous for the six temples, seven pavilions and eight monasteries. Jingang Pagoda was originally erected in Zhizheng Period of the Yuan Dynasty but was destroyed later. The current pagoda is a heritage of the 2nd year of Tianshun Period of the Ming Dynasty. The construction was advocated by Yunnan General Mu Cong and sponsored by Luo Gui, an eunuch guarding Yunnan Province. It took three months before the construction was completed. Guandu Jingang Pagoda is China’s sole pagoda completely built of sand and stones.
