One of the major parks in the city of Kunming, Xihua Garden covering about 8 hectares is known for ornamental plants. In the well preserved park, one can see the buildings featuring the architectural style of the Bai ethnic minority which is vividly called "three rooms and one screen wall, courtyard with five yards".

The park abounds in a wide variety of plants and flowers including azaleas, sweet osmanthus, magnolias, camellias, Chinese roses and orchids etc. Since establishment, the park is known for orchids and now is the largest orchid planting base in Yunnan Province.
