The Green Lake Park

Established in the 17th Century, the Green Lake Park is located at the foot of Luofeng Hill in Kunming city proper, directly facing the main entrance of Yunnan University and consists of four lakes linked by bridges in the traditional style.

As one of Kunming's best parks, its banks are lined with ancient weeping willow trees, well established flower gardens and elegant pavilions both large and small.

Once part of the Dianchi Lake, with the decline of the water levels in the lake, it was developed over time into an independent park some of whose magnificent Pavilions and Towers date back to the Ming Dynasty and is  known now as the Green Lake. The pavilions are in the classic style and are notable for their carved beams, painted rafters, glazed tiles and elegant eaves. This is a popular destination for the locals and tourists.

During the In winter months, black-headed gulls migrate to the park living in harmony with people.
